Discover the 2018 Ford Explorer

Looking for a new SUV that maneuvers well and doesn't seem bulky? The 2018 Ford Explorer is a triumphant entry in the SUV class that has drivers enjoying their time behind the wheel like never before. At New Way Ford we have a huge new and used inventory with a wide selection of available SUVs.

The Explorer offers a unique take on an SUV. With a strong outline inspired by classic Ford vehicles, the Explorer makes its presence known on the road. With a newly reworked grill and  fog lights the 2018 Explorer looks sharp, come check out our new SUVs to see all the SUVs and crossovers that Ford has to offer.

The Kia Sorento

The Kia Sorento is another capable contender in the SUV class. How does the Explorer stack up? The Kia's big weakness comes from its available space. The design is smooth and contoured so that the Sorento is reminiscent of a car more than an SUV. Unfortunately, the Sorento leans too far towards the car-end of the spectrum. The 7-seat version is much too cramped in the back two seats, and the cargo space doesn't lend itself to a big family ride.

Don't let the Explorer's size concern you though, as it remains an efficient vehicle. The available EcoBoost engines both boost the efficiency as well. The 3.5-liter EcoBoost comes standard in the Sport and Platinum trims and it works well with the Explorer's 4WD. The 2.3-liter EcoBoost delivers 280 horsepower and 310 lb.-feet of torque while keeping you away from the gas pump.

The Chevrolet Traverse

The Chevrolet Traverse is a strong SUV, but when you get inside it is pretty bare. The Traverse has a lot of space, but the interior looks kind of cheap for an SUV. The back two rows are pretty unimpressive, as opposed to the Explorer which has taken care to make sure it looks the part of a luxury SUV from the cabin's top to bottom.

Standard features are one of the Explorer's strong suits, it comes with powerful AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control system that helps it drive in poor conditions, a Safety Canopy airbag system, and an SOS Post-Crash Alert System. It also comes standard with independent front and rear suspension systems and trailer sway control. Intelligent 4WD is available for every model and trim.

The Toyota Highlander

If you want something that carts around family and friends, the Toyota Highlander will get the job done. It has a good amount of storage space and enough power to move itself around. The Explorer has all of this as well, but it also offers more practical strength than the Highlander. The Explorer can tow up to 5,000 lbs. with some available features that help you tow easily. The standard Towing and Trailer Sway Control brakes and adjusts the engine to maintain control of your trailer, a strong feature for a vehicle that needs to take a boat or trailer out frequently.

The Explorer also has a powerful Terrain Management System that ups its off-road capabilities. Going off-road is a challenge for a lot of luxury SUVs, but the Explorer is different. Whether you're on snow, gravel, sand, or grass, the Explorer will give you a smooth, stress-free drive.
